The migrating eye of the sinistral Turbot

Watches its gills sliced open

With a deft and rusting fish-knife.

Bone-borne and worn it slashes through

The white blood-flesh –

Pumping, splashing,

Its juices drench the maculate skin.

Flensed flesh slithers into a frosted tray.

The carcass jerks and shudders

A coitus of death performed upon a marble slab

A forcing between its life and ours  –

A milk-blood sacrifice.
